A free, family fun day in Hexham to support Armed Forces Day!
An opportunity to raise public awareness of the contribution made by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, this also shows our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.
Throughout the day there will be a display of military vehicles and equipment with personnel from the 3rd Royal Horse Artillery, 204 (Tyneside Scottish) Battery and the Fifth Fusiliers; stalls; a climbing wall; face painting; a balloon modeller; assault course; and a variety of musical entertainment (including Miss Cindy Hoten, and Earl Grey and the Charwallahs) at the bandstand. Other highlights include:
10.00am to 10.20am
Troops from the 3rd Royal Horse Artillery (3RHA), together with local Air Cadets, will march up Priestpopple, Battle Hill and Beaumont Street.
The troops will form up ready for inspection.
10.30am to 10.45am
Inspection and address by the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland and the Mayor of Hexham, with a reply from the 3RHA Inspecting Officer.
10.50am to 11.00am
Classic car parade from Wentworth Car Park via Priestpopple to Beaumont Street (the vehicles will then be displayed in Beaumont Street).
11.15am to 11.25am
Drumhead Service with the Ramage City of Newcastle Pipe Band.
Flypast by a Dakota from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Air Events Team to mark the centenary of the RAF.
