Sankta Lucia is the Swedish festival celebrating the triumph of light over the winter darkness. Bring some light into the December darkness with this year’s Sankta Lucia festival - Hexham Abbey Thursday 12th December at 7.00pm.
A maiden wearing a crown of candles on her head, leads a candlelit procession of choirs singing traditional Scandinavian songs. This event in supported by Region Västra Göteland and Northumberland County Council.
General admission tickets are free for the 45-minute Luciatåg. If you wish to stay for the reception afterwards, for glōgg and cinnamon buns and a chance to meet our guest Swedish choir, you can order tickets costing £6.00 plus booking fee.
A small numher of tickets Will also be available in Hexham soon. These will be of the free version.
